Onward & Upward

To the White Plains Classix and NYCONN Rugby Community:

Our very good friend, teammate, and all around great man, Deny Baird passed away this past  after a drawn out battle with cancer. Deny had played and trained with us since the mid 90's and was a great pal to many old and young boys associated with our club. Deny was always pushing to play, with any side he could, and his desire for rugby did not diminish even though he could not play the past few years. I saw Deny on the sideline at every home game this past Fall. He was the consummate club member and supporter. My conversations with Deny were always about how well the club, the coach, and the players were doing. He never brought up himself, his illness, or how he was doing. I always had to inquire and he always stressed how positive and great he was doing.

Our club and the rugby community are richer for having known Deny, but poorer now that he has left.

The world would be a better place with more Deny's.
